Confined spaces can be defined by small areas where workers need to enter and exit to complete a specific task; whether they’re designed for people or not. Another challenge with confined spaces are their limited or restricted ways of entry and exiting that can cause restriction for the worker. OSHA defines a “permit-required confined space” if it exhibits one or more of the following characteristics: contains or has the potential to contain a hazardous atmosphere; contains material that has the potential to engulf an entrant; has walls that converge inward or floors that slope downward and taper into a smaller area which could trap or asphyxiate an entrant; or contains any other recognized safety or health hazard such as unguarded machinery, exposed live wires, or heat stress.

These micro-learning clips are designed to help identify confined spaces, how to work within them and how to workers can be safe with confined spaces. Examples of confined spaces include: tanks, vaults, pits, manholes, tunnels, storage, ductwork, pipes, etc.
