Workplace stress is not only detrimental on the employee and their health, but it directly impacts the workplace and it’s environment. Stress has been attributed to cause over 70% of workplace accidents, 50% of absenteeism and over $300 billion in associated costs.1 Workplace stress is manageable and needs to be a serious focus for managers and safety specialist to recognize the patterns of a stressed worker to avoid accidents or even workplace violence. Currently, there are no OSHA regulations requiring a workplace stress management program, but it’s highly recommended.
